Information
To be
eligible for a position as a Sheriff's Officer, you must first file a LAW
ENFORCEMENT SERIES APPLICATION with the New Jersey Department of Personnel
to take the examination for available positions.
We hire
only from the pool of eligible candidates that are generated from this
examination. Your score and ranking on this eligibility list will remain
active for a period of two years.
To file
for the examination, you must check with local Law Enforcement Agencies,
Libraries or Post Offices between the months of October and December of
each year. You can also log onto the Department of Personnel web site at
www.state.nj.us/personnel
for job bulletins and announcements on Law Enforcement for these Titles.

The
announcement to take the test will be mailed to you by the NJ Department
of Personnel within about three months.
