ATLANTIC COUNTY “PROJECT LIFESAVER” PROGRAM

Atlantic County Sheriff James McGettigan is announcing the start of the Atlantic County “Project Lifesaver” Program at a scheduled News Conference on Thursday, March 24, 2005, at 10:00AM, at the Atlantic County Superior Court Complex, 4997 Unami Blvd., Mays Landing, New Jersey.

The Project Lifesaver Program utilizes an innovative rapid response electronic tracking system.  Its primary task is aiding victims and families suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease, Down’s Syndrome, Autism and other forms of dementia.  By forming partnerships with local law enforcement and public safety organizations, specially trained teams are deployed from the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office to quickly locate and return wandering adults and children safely to their families and caregivers.  Project Lifesaver protects wandering loved ones and gives peace of mind to caregivers, families and communities.

The Atlantic County Project Lifesaver Program is a partnership between the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office, Atlantic County Intergenerational Services and Atlantic County TRIAD, Inc.  Sheriff McGettigan said, “A partnership such as ours has so much support, it can only be a huge success for citizens throughout Atlantic County”.

Immediately following the News Conference, there will be a brief presentation and demonstration of Project Lifesaver.  Anyone interested in this program is invited to attend.
